2023 Jeep Renegade vs. 2023 Ford Bronco
The 2023 Ford Bronco has a retro appearance with extensive customization choices and impressive performance. But is this enough to beat the 2023 Jeep Renegade, an SUV praised for its roomy interior, exceptional performance, and outstanding safety scores?
Design & Style
The Jeep Renegade is one of the few compact sport utility vehicles to offers substantial off road performance. Those that purchase the Trailhawk edition will get skid plates under the body which provide added protection, along with ample ground clearance and nineteen inches for water fording capacity. It seats five passengers, and the latest updates for the year include the standardization of all wheel drive, heated steering and nineteen inch wheels for those that purchase the High Altitude edition.
The Ford Bronco also seats five passengers and is designed for off roading. It can be purchased with 4 or 2 doors which are totally removable, and comes with numerous trims, accessories and equipment. Its latest updates for this year include the Bronco Heritage package, which has a 1960s appearance, and those that purchase Badlands will get seats covered in leather trim plaid and fender badging.
Technology & Safety
The Ford Bronco comes with a complete suite of safety tech, which includes automated high beams, parking sensors, airbags, emergency automated brakes, blind area monitoring and frontal impact alerts. Comforts within its cabin consist of wifi, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, navigation that is built in, an audio system from B&O with climate control and powered leather seats.
The Jeep Renegade matches the Ford when it comes to safety, offering all the same features. These include parking sensors, adapted cruise control, emergency automated brakes, lane management and blind area monitoring. But the Renegade also has semi-autonomous operation that assists the vehicle in perpendicular and parallel parking. Comforts within its cabin consist of satellite radio, navigation that is built in, Kenwood audio system, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof and heated frontal seats.
Performance
The Jeep Renegade is powered by a 4 cylinder, 1.5 liter engine that is turbocharged and capable of generating 177 horsepower, with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in about nine seconds. The Ford Bronco is equipped with a turbocharged, V6 engine that can generate 300 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in 6.2 seconds.
The Bottom Line
The Ford Bronco has an edge in horsepower and acceleration, but the Jeep Renegade has the advantage in fuel economy. And though both SUVs are tied when it comes to safety, the Ford Bronco doesn’t offer a diesel or hybrid option, its build quality is poor and the same can be said of the ride quality, and it generates excessive wind noise when moving at freeway speed and this makes the Jeep Renegade the winner.
