The Dodge Durango – Model Years 2020 v/s 2019

The Dodge Durango is one of the most family-friendly, exceptional mid-size SUVs available in the market. The 2020 iteration offers a roomy interior for up to eight people, user-friendly infotainment features, and an above-average reliability score.

The features of the model years of 2019 and 2020 are almost similar, except for the addition of newer specs to trims and a few optional appearance fittings. If you’re wondering about your purchase regarding this model, here is an illustrated comparison between the 2019 and 2020 variants.

Trims with Newer Specs

Dodge offers both the 2019 and 2020 Durango in five trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, and SRT. New specifications have been incorporated in each of these levels for the 2020 Durango. Most have V6 engines, while the R/T and SRT boast distinct Hemi V8 engines. Compared to its 2019 counterpart, the base model for 2020 offers a greater number of tech features for a pretty good value.

Exterior and Interior

Both the external and internal features of the 2019 and 2020 model years have remained the same, with a few upgrades to the latter version. With its standard boxy and muscular profile, the 2020 version has LED lighting, brand-specific grille, and optional Mopar racing stripes in addition. Hemi badging on the fender is available for the Blacktop or Monkey Brass packages of the R/T trim, along with 20-inch wheels.

Standard interior features of the 2020 SXT include a 7-inch gauge cluster, cloth upholstery, and an impressive infotainment system with a 7-inch display screen. The SXT plus has options for leather upholstery, second-row fold-and tumble captain's chairs, and a sunroof.

The signature Durango performance is maintained by the SRT trim with a 6.4-litre V8 engine that gives you 475 horsepower and an 8,700-pound towing capacity. The R/T offers a 5.7-litre V8 engine with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Even the base model harbors a 6,200-pound towing capacity.

The rearview mirror is the only standard for both model years. Optional safety features include advanced technology, like parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring, among others.

Reliability and Overall Rating

According to the USNews’ Cars forum, the 2020 Durango has a higher predicted reliability rating of 4 out of 5 from J.D. Power. This is a major contrast to the 2019 model, which has a reliability score of 2. This changed the overall rating of 2020 to 8.1, compared to 2019’s 7.8.
